Interview Project

Few people understand my taste in art and beauty better than Jamin does, so his recommendations are usually something I definitely get excited about. He let me know about this way in advance, but I haven't gotten to it until now, my second day of summer, and I'm making a vow to keep up with it from here on out. And you should too.

David Lynch is usually up to something pretty bizarre and way out in left field, but this project is something I think most everyone can appreciate. It's called Interview Project, and it's simply a roadtrip across this country of ours, interviewing everyday people along the way. The videos are short and sweet, usually around the 4 minute mark, and invariably, you'll wish some were a bit longer.

It's a beautiful slice of the human condition, and I might have been most surprised at the way I found myself reacting differently to each one. If nothing else, it's great testing ground for identifying your own nuances and biases in responding to certain types of people. When we learn about others, we learn about ourselves.

But, as it usually is with me, the beauty is in the small things, the one-liners, like Palmer Black who "loves little kids and puppies" and wants to be remembered as a "happy person who cooked a real good barbecue."

The first one starts HERE with Jess in Needles, CA. I think you can handle the rest from there.

The first part of this post made me incredibly happy. Proud to be that person.

"I'd like to be remembered as someone who cooked a real good barbecue and was happy all the time" was probably my favourite part so far in the whole series.

So happy you like these as much as I do! (though obviously I knew you would :)
