Some albums require an intentional listen. Broken Social Scene's self-titled album hasn't interested me as background music. With its incredibly thick, layered, complex instrumentation, it has just seemed like too much to handle and sort through. But upon some closer listens recently, it has become an amazing and very enjoyable album.
I got the Explosions in the Sky album over the weekend. I'm hoping to find time to give it a full, intentional listen sometime today. I'm excited.

I was talking to Matt Doty about the new Explosions in the Sky album and he said, "They've been making the same album for four years."
Sadly, I had to agree.
They need some change.
