Shorb on Nouwen on Ministry
A few weeks back, I told you about reading In the Name of Jesus by Henri Nouwen in one sitting at Panera on a Friday night. I also said I was planning to share more about it. This, then, is to let you know I'm sharing over here.
He heard the words drag out. He felt them pull out of his mouth like freight cars, jangling, backing up on each other, grating to a halt, sliding, clinching back, jarring, and then suddenly stopping as roughly as they had begun. It was over. --Flannery O'Connor, "The Barber"
